Communication and Language is one of the prime areas of learning within the EYFS.
This area is broken into three aspects;
Listening and Attention- Children should be able to maintain concentration and join in appropriately during teaching and small group activities. Children enjoy listening to stories and can recall and describe key events.
Understanding- Children ask appropriate questions and begin to answer who, where,what,when and how questions related to topics and everyday life. Children understand complex instructions and ask for clarification if necessary.
Speaking- Children should now talk using a clear and varied vocabulary. They use complex sentences of more than five words and change the pitch and expression to show understanding. Children use imaginary language to recreate and act in role.
World Nursery Rhyme week 2017
EYFS had a fantastic time celebrating World Nursery Rhyme week. We started on Monday by dressing as our favourite nursery rhyme character and spent the week learning nursery rhymes, acting them out, solving mysteries and even making up our own version of 'Wind the Bobbin up'.
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who joined us on Friday for our performance and stay and play session we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. :)
Toy Day January 2018
January is a very exciting time in Reception as children are encouraged to bring their favourite toy to school to share with their friends. This is a great opportunity for developing communication and language skills as well as personal,social and emotional intelligence.
