Home Learning Information
Thank you for your patience during these uncertain times. Today has allowed us to contact all parents and allocate places for those children of key workers who have no other provision at home for childcare during lockdown.
We have set up home learning on the school website www.mystclares.com and using a platform called Purple Mash. Your child will have an individual log in that will be emailed to you or you can contact the class teacher using the new class email address.

These email address will be monitored by the class teacher during working hours only and are there for you to get support for home learning. When using the email please include your child’s name so the class teacher can identify you.
Please be aware that our teachers are also teaching key worker and vulnerable children in school each day, so therefore responses will not be immediate.
Our school website under class pages is where you will find the information for your child’s home learning. Any problems please contact school.
As you will no doubt be aware we have entered another period of lockdown. In order to ensure our school safely meets the needs of all children and staff, alongside the Governing Body, we have taken the difficult decision to close tomorrow, Tuesday 6th January. All parents will be contacted tomorrow as soon as possible and a place arranged for key worker and vulnerable children if needed.
We will open school on Wednesday 7th January for key worker and vulnerable children only.
We appreciate that this is short notice but very little time was given from the Government to allow us to plan for this accordingly. Please keep checking your texts and the School website for further updates.

Updated Key Worker and Vulnerable List
Please be prepared to provide proof of Key Worker Status.
Vulnerable children and young people
Vulnerable children and young people include those who:
- are assessed as being in need under section 17 of the Children Act 1989, including children and young people who have a child in need plan, a child protection plan or who are a looked-after child
- have an education, health and care (EHC) plan
- have been identified as otherwise vulnerable by educational providers or local authorities (including children’s social care services), and who could therefore benefit from continued full-time attendance, this might include:
- children and young people on the edge of receiving support from children’s social care services or in the process of being referred to children’s services
- adopted children or children on a special guardianship order
- those at risk of becoming NEET (‘not in employment, education or training’)
- those living in temporary accommodation
- those who are young carers
- those who may have difficulty engaging with remote education at home (for example due to a lack of devices or quiet space to study)
- care leavers
- others at the provider and local authority’s discretion including pupils and students who need to attend to receive support or manage risks to their mental health
Parents whose work is critical to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and EU transition response include those who work in health and social care and in other key sectors outlined in the following sections.
Health and social care
This includes, but is not limited to, doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics, social workers, care workers, and other frontline health and social care staff including volunteers; the support and specialist staff required to maintain the UK’s health and social care sector; those working as part of the health and social care supply chain, including producers and distributors of medicines and medical and personal protective equipment.
Education and childcare
- support and teaching staff
- social workers
- specialist education professionals who must remain active during the coronavirus (COVID-19) response to deliver this approach
Key public services
- those essential to the running of the justice system
- religious staff
- charities and workers delivering key frontline services
- those responsible for the management of the deceased
- journalists and broadcasters who are providing public service broadcasting
Local and national government
This only includes those administrative occupations essential to the effective delivery of:
- the coronavirus (COVID-19) response, and the delivery of and response to EU transition
- essential public services, such as the payment of benefits and the certification or checking of goods for import and export (including animal products, animals, plants and food), including in government agencies and arms length bodies
Food and other necessary goods
This includes those involved in food:
- sale and delivery
- as well as those essential to the provision of other key goods (for example hygienic and veterinary medicines)
Public safety and national security
- police and support staff
- Ministry of Defence civilians
- contractor and armed forces personnel (those critical to the delivery of key defence and national security outputs and essential to the response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and EU transition)
- fire and rescue service employees (including support staff)
- National Crime Agency staff
- those maintaining border security, prison and probation staff and other national security roles, including those overseas
Transport and border
This includes those who will keep the air, water, road and rail passenger and freight transport modes operating during the coronavirus (COVID-19) response and EU transition, including those working on transport systems through which supply chains pass and those constructing or supporting the operation of critical transport and border infrastructure through which supply chains pass.
Utilities, communication and financial services
- staff needed for essential financial services provision (including but not limited to workers in banks, building societies and financial market infrastructure)
- the oil, gas, electricity and water sectors (including sewerage)
- information technology and data infrastructure sector and primary industry supplies to continue during the coronavirus (COVID-19) response
- key staff working in the civil nuclear, chemicals, telecommunications (including but not limited to network operations, field engineering, call centre staff, IT and data infrastructure, 999 and 111 critical services)
- postal services and delivery
- payments providers
- waste disposal sectors
All families in Years R-6 have been contacted today (19th May 2020) by phone.
If you were unable to take our call, please read this important notice.
- St Clare’s School is reopening on 2nd June 2020, for children whose parents are Key Workers (See list below)
- There are only a limited number of places, because of the need for children to keep 2 metres apart
- Please phone St Clare’s today, before 4.00pm, if you were not able to answer our call, and you are a Key Worker, so that we can discuss when child can return to school
- Alternatively, please ring St Hugh’s Hub tomorrow, or by 3.00pm Thursday 21.5.20 at the latest (St Hugh’s Hub 0151 733 2899)

Safeguarding Information and Guidance regarding Domestic Violence from Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership:
Domestic Abuse during the lockdown is a very real concern, and family members will be at an increased risk. We need to ensure that we are proactive in asking appropriate and safe questions while families are in lockdown.
Police guidance on the ‘999 silent solution’ call:
The 999 call system allows all 999 callers to access support if they are unable to speak during the call. It is important that either a noise is made or that 55 is pressed. For example, if you can only make noise, such as tapping the handset, coughing, crying or even talking to the offender, then these actions will alert the attention of the BT operator.
If you are supporting someone who is suffering with domestic abuse, speaking out is not always an option when someone is in real danger, so please encourage use of the 999 silent call. The Police Force and specially trained officers are still there for people during the lockdown. The below list details services which are also available:
In an emergency always, ring 999. Using a silent 999 call followed by 55 (or tapping/coughing into the phone) will enable police to respond.

In response to the current coronavirus pandemic, Liverpool Local Authority’s SEND Support Services would like to offer advice and support to our settings and families during this difficult time. The attached flyer gives details of a helpline we have set up for settings, schools and families to access specialist support. The flyer details the different services offering support, the helpline numbers, the timings for the different helplines and email contact details for each service.
