    Reading focus

  • Read words containing taught GPC's and -s, -es, -ing, -ed, -er and -est endings
  • Listen and discuss a wide range of poems, stories and non-fiction at a level beyond that at which they can read independently
  • Link what they read or hear read to their own experiences
  • discuss word meanings, linking new meanings to those already known
  • Make inferences on the basis of what is being said and done 

Writing focus: Genre - Portal Narrative and Non - Chronological Report

  • Spell words cotaining each of the 40+ graphemes already taught
  • Spell common exception words
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of prefixes and suffixes (pluarals, prefix 'un' and use of  suffixes with no change to the root word)
  • Handwriting - form lower case and upper case letters in the correct direction


*We will also be focusing on topic (non-fiction) books relating to 'Paws Claws and Whiskers'.
