Spring 1

Computing

This term we have been working on our touch typing using Purple Mash's 2Type programme. We have gotten so much faster since we started and can't wait for the computing lesson each week!

Internet Safety Day

During Internet Safety Day, we attended an assembly by our Computing Ambassadors, created Safer Internet posters and discussed what advice we would give to someone being pressured to do something whilst on the internet.

Geography

During this term, we have been learning about volcanoes and earthquakes. We discovered the structure of the Earth and how its tectonic plates are effected when an earthquake happens. We located famous earthquakes and wrote a report about the 1960 earthquake in Chile. We also found out facts about famous volcanoes and when they last erupted.

Art

In art, we have been creating an abstract piece of art, adapting Kandinsky's circles. We started experimenting with the circles and different media, then moved onto incorporating them into a final piece.

Maths

For Maths this term, we have been focusing on measure. We started on measuring length, then moved onto weight and mass, and volume and capacity. We enjoyed weighing items around our classroom, and compared them to each other using 'heavier than' and 'lighter than'.

We have also been looking at time- starting with o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to the hour.

NSPCC Number Day

We were so excited for NSPCC Number Day's Timetable Rockstars challenge!

PE- Hockey and Swimming

We have really enjoyed our outdoor hockey lessons this term. We have learnt how to hold the stick properly, how to pass the ball properly, how to dribble using one side of the stick and how to tackle each other during a small game situation.

We look forward to each Monday when we go swimming. The confidence in the water that the children have gotten from these lessons is improving each week. We look forward to carrying these lessons on in Spring 2.
