Spring 1

English

This term children will be using the picture book 'The Whale' by Ethan and valerie Murrow. The detail illustrations tell the story of two children who go looking for a whale and get caught in a storm. They will use the book to write a setting description.

Maths

Meet our fabulous Times table rockstars, staff and children dressed up as part of the launch of TTRockstars. This app is designed to help children practise their times tables, particularly important in Year 4 as preparation for the MTC in June.

Using manipulatives to understand the properties of 2D shapes.

Science

Does air weigh anything? we investigated using ballonns and wire coat hangers. The answer? .....  Yes it does.

Children studied the style of William Morris and made printing blocks in the same style, they then used them to print their designs.

On-Line Safety

The theme of this year's on-line safety was 'it's good to talk'. Children were taught how to report things to adults if they see anything unsafe on-line. They were then given scenarios and shared the advice they would give the characters.

Mental Health Week

As part of Children's Mental Helath week, Year 4 took part in a peer massage session. It was very relaxing.

History

We found out that there are a lot of towns and cities around Liverpool that have Anglo-Saxon origins.
